With Christmas almost upon us there's a 23 year old kid from Sandusky Ohio that has been up day and night preparing for the Christmas gift he has received from two brothers from the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Caleb Griffith has been selected to explode onto the Sprint car circuit in January 2012 for a three week tour .
Caleb was spotted by Mark Smith while on a recent trip to the U.S.A. driving for a local car owner in Ohio ,competing week in week out in the popular 305 and 360 Sprint car class at Fremont, Attica and Eldora . On return from his trip Mark
approached younger brother Jason Smith to assist in putting together a Top line car and motor to entice this young charger to come over for a holiday in January and wet his feet in the Australian Sprint car scene.
After a few phone calls later Mark convinced Caleb he wasn’t being punked and the rest is now history. Mark ,Jason and Caleb have all agreed that this will be a short program this visit concentrating on the Presidents cup at Avalon Raceway and of course the Grand Annual Classic at Warrnambool's Premier Speedway , as former locals Mark and Jason are excited to be going to their old home town where as kids both spent time in the crowd as newborns while their Late brother Duane and older Sister Jo watched on as their father raced his super modified at his home track.

Avalon ,Mark having pit crewed for Max Dumesney in his younger days and Jason with Darryl Nash,Danny Smith and Jamie Cobby in California some years ago.

Caleb has raced 305, 360, and 410's For various car owners and teams with much success, he drove the Diet Pepsi car in 2007 up until late last year when his car owner got very ill and had to put the team on the backburner while Caleb returned to where it all started this year back in the very competitive 305 class in Ohio and still attending to a handful of 360 shows and as you can see the season highlight photos speak for themselves finding Caleb holding the big Cheque on many occasions.
But probably the most telling point of Caleb's ability I find in the races he didn’t win, out of 10 A Main starts finishing all 10 and no lower than 9th place is a testament to his consistency.
